Description

The Lagos State government is offering local and foreign investors the opportunity to invest in the proposed Lagos Film City. The idea behind the facility is to attract both international and local productions to Lagos State.

The Nigerian feature film industry, often called Nollywood, is the world's third largest film industry after Hollywood and Bollywood. In just 18 years Nollywood has grown from nothing into an industry that employs thousands of people.

The state government is looking for financiers, investors, lead arrangers and partners for the Lagos Film City.

Project details

The Lagos Film City will provide multi-production standard facilities that will encompass television, film and audio productions. The project would also establish the Lagos Film and Television Academy.

The Lagos Film City would feature the following technical facilities for film production:

  • Theatre facilities
  • Film sound stages and studios
  • Pre-constructed and external sets
  • Educational facilities
  • Forested and natural vegetation film location facilities
  • 16mm and 36mm film laboratory
  • Marine/aquatic film location facilities
  • Set recreation of historical Lagos

A mix of 2 to 4 star hotel developments are also planned.

    Market

Lagos State has close to 18 million people and is also the hub of the Nigerian film industry.
