Description
Oil palms are grown for their clusters of fruit which can weigh up to 50 kg. Upon harvest, the drupe, pericarp and seeds are used for the production of soap and edible vegetable oil. Different grades of oil quality are obtained from the pericarp and the kernel, with the pericarp oil used mainly for cooking oil, and the kernel oil used in processed foods.
The Kwara State government is looking for local and foreign investors to invest in oil palm processing factories in the three local government areas of Ireodun, Ekiti and Oke-Ero.
The project will involve the planning, construction, installation and operation of the facility.
Local communities will actively participate in the project by planting and supplying the raw palm nuts. They will also partake in the operation of the facility.
