Construction of the Lekki Free Trade Zone (FTZ) is in progress. It is not just a FTZ but a new model city situated on the Lekki Peninsula southeast of the city of Lagos. Apart from the industrial component the FTZ will include urban development such as residential accommodation, business centres, a financial hub and tourism activities. Initially, light industries such as textiles, electronics, household equipment, and foods and beverages will be targeted.
