The Sokoto State government is offering local and foreign investors the opportunity to invest in leather industries.

Due to high slaughter figures in Sokoto State, animal by-products such as hides and skins are found in large quantities. This provides a favourable situation for the establishment of tannery, leather shoe and bag industries.

Incentives:

Both the federal and Sokoto state governments have put in place numerous incentives to stimulate the development of industrial projects in the state.

Some of these incentives include:

equity participation in viable industrial projects;

easy accessibility of land in industrial estates;

guarantee of loans for viable industrial projects;

provision of infrastructure to industrial layouts;

availability of cheap labour;

import duty draw back;

income tax relief/pioneer status; and

tax relief for research and development.
