The Lagos State Government is inviting private companies to partner with it in the construction of a conference centre.
As the commercial hub of Nigeria and West Africa the mega-city is ideally positioned for such a facility. The plan is to develop the largest conference centre in Africa at a size of 60 000 m².
With a view at strategically positioning Lagos on the world tourism map, the current administration intends to execute a number of tourism projects on a public private partnership basis.
Reasons to invest in Lagos State
Location: Lagos State is strategically located on the coast of Nigeria with a large seaport and international airport. The beauty of the natural environment of Lagos is defined by water - the Atlantic Ocean and its breakers, the beached, the wetlands and the fascinating character of 61 different islands.
Market: As the commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos State is the obvious location for a conference centre. A large number of conferences and trade shows are already held in Lagos every year but existing facilities has become inadequate.
Labour: Nigeria has a population of close to 150 million people; an abundance of skilled and unskilled labour is therefore available.
Political climate: Since the return to democracy in 1999 Nigeria's political climate has stabilised dramatically. Although the country still has a way to go there is a general consensus that civilian rule is here to stay.
Incentives: The Lagos State Government is offering a number of incentives to serious investors in the state. These include the provision of infrastructure and special tax holidays and deductions.
