Investment opportunity: The Cross River state government is looking for a concessionaire for the Margaret Ekpo International Airport (MEIA), situated in Calabar. The airport's 2.4 km runway was recently rehabilitated but more work is needed to re-model the facility, and also all other airports in the country.

Terms of reference: The concessionaire will be required to expand and upgrade MEIA to cope with future growth, upgrade to category eight with annual capacity for 600 000 passengers, and extend the current runway to 3.25 km.

Other business opportunities at MEIA as listed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria:

• Establishment of duty free shops, holiday inns, cargo complex, Internet cafes, housing estate.
• Provision of airport advertising and ground transportation
• Development and management of car pack and cargo.

Documentation: A feasibility study is available

IRR: 5%. Concession fees are charged on the business turnover of concessionaires carrying out commercial activities from rented facilities.
