Description

The Lagos State Government is offering investors the opportunity to invest in particle board manufacturing by using saw dust.

The current administration has made a commitment to conserve 50% of the forest reserves in the state. The recycling of wood products is therefore high on its agenda.

Particle board, sometimes called chip board, is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood particles, such as wood chips, saw mill shavings and saw dust, and a synthetic resin or other suitable binder, which is pressed and extruded.

Around 35 000 logs are sawn daily at two saw mill sites in Lagos State – Oko-Baba and Ikorodu Road. Saw dust from the mills are currently not used for anything and only constitute a menace.

Market

Lagos State has close to 18 million people and it the biggest market in Nigeria. Due to urbanisation the demand for wood and furniture products is increasing daily.
