Description

Around 70% of the people of Kwara State live in rural areas and as a result a lot of emphasis has been placed on rural development projects to boost economic development and the population's standard of living.

In 2003 there were about 980 hand-pump fitted boreholes and 300 motorized boreholes in the state. Many communities and villages were without portable water and only 12% of rural dwellers had access to portable water. As a result the state government took steps to increase the provision of portable water.

The Kwara State government is offering local and international investors the opportunity to invest in the manufacturing of borehole casings, drilling tools and drilling chemicals.

The project will be located in Kwara State and will involve the designing, planning, construction and installation of factory equipment, as well as the operation of the facility. The factory will produce goods for the Nigerian, West African and African market.
