The Sokoto State Government is looking for private sector participation to provide information communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and services in the state.
Investors can get involved in various areas such as establishing digital resource centres, installing network infrastructure, digitalising systems and ICT training. Each proposal will be judged individually with the level of government participation depending on project details.
ICT objectives for Sokoto State
1. Establish essential ICT infrastructure for achieving a knowledge society and improving governance in the state.
2. To
build capacity for the various arms of the state government to harness ICT for socio-economic development and the improvement of the delivery of public services.
3. To create job opportunities and skills by developing a critical mass of youth with technical ICT capabilities.
4. To use ICT as a platform on which to promote the economic potentials of the state.
5. To improve health care delivery systems.
6. To improve the revenue generation of the state.
7. To promote mass literacy by modernising public libraries.
Reasons to invest in Sokoto State
Labour: Sokoto State has an abundant supply of affordable skilled and unskilled labour.
Incentives: The Sokoto State Government is willing to extend a number of incentives to serious investors. These include the provision of land and infrastructure, tax holidays and assistance with obtaining financing.
Stable political climate: Since its return to civilian rule in 1999 Nigeria has made significant gains in establishing democracy. Besides a few localised problems in the Niger Delta area, the country is safe and secure to do business.
