Plans are underway to refurbish the Abuja Sheraton and return the hotel to its former status.

Morten Ebbesen, the new general manager of the Sheraton Abuja Hotel revealed this in an interview with Daily Trust.

According to Ebbesen, the refurbishment of the hotel will cost an estimated U$10 million and will include the building of new rooms and corridors, as well as the changing of the current restaurant and public areas.

He said that the hotel has already completed work on revamping the "back bone" by ordering new generators and installing a new air handling unit.

Asked for his thoughts on Nigeria’s hospitality industry, Ebbesen replied that there is a need to teach the younger generation about the hotel business. He added that a formal hotel school environment would make the situation a lot easier.
