Texas Pacific Construction Limited, a US company, is going to spend close to N3 billion in the first phase of a tourism infrastructure development project in Niger State.

The initial investment would see the construction of a number of facilities, including:

  • a water park;
  • a cable car connecting Zuma Rock to two other rocks;
  • a 200 room hotel;
  • an amphitheatre; and
  • a solar energy plant to power the facilities

    The project will be private sector driven with no direct state investment apart from the infrastructure and land.

    Tom Patterson, managing director of Texas Pacific Construction, said the unexplored tourism potentials of Niger State and its proximity to Abuja makes the company very confident of achieving a good return on its investment. He also expressed his satisfaction with Nigeria's political stability.

    Niger State Governor, Babangiba Aliyu said the company's investment is part of the state's determination to see its N150 billion tourism masterplan become a reality.

    The project is expected to be completed within 30 months.
