South African telecommunications company iBurst is planning to enter the Nigerian market, Business Day reports.
iBurst has announced that it will partly fund the Nigeria venture by listing on the JSE later in 2009.
The voice and data service provider expects to shortly receive its license to offer wireless broadband services in Nigeria.
The company’s chairman, Thami Mtshali said he expects iBurst to record a turnover of R15 million a month after launching and aims to serve 200 000 customers within 10 months.
Mtshali added that iBurst will work with a local partner and plans to cover the entire country.
Outside South Africa, the company already operates in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Mozambique and Kenya. Plans to enter Zambia are also on the cards.
