The Niger State Government has decided to partner with South African farmers to position the state as an agricultural hub.
Daily Trust reports the state government has approached South African farmers to increase beef production in the state.
Details of the project are currently worked out but cattle ranches will be established near the towns of Tegina, Mokwa and Agaie. Local cattle will also be cross-bred with a breed from South Africa.
According to the newspaper a delegation from Niger State visited farms in South Africa to look at ways to increase the production of high breed cattle.
