The Federal Capital Administration is making plans to establish a free export zone (FEZ) for medical equipment in Nigeria's capital Abuja.

According to the FCT Minister, Dr Aliyu Modibbo Umar the FEZ will be known as the Abuja Healthcare Village. 500 hectares of land have already been set-aside for the project.

He said that it is his administration's ambition to establish Abuja as a centre for healthcare in West-Africa. It is expected that people from all over the world will come to Abuja for healthcare services.

KBB & Partners International Healthcare Nigeria Limited has already proposed to build a 400-bed hospital in the area. The minister urged KBB & Partners to also invest in a hospital equipment factory in the FEZ.
