Tourism overhaul planned for Rivers State

The Rivers State government has expressed its determination to improve and develop the abundant tourism potentials in the state.

The state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Marcus Nle Eji stated this during his maiden meeting with management and staff of the ministry.

Nle Eji pledged that within 90 days, there will be a total transformation in the ministry, in line with the new thinking of government.

The commissioner urged his staff to be steadfast in their jobs, stating that hard work would be greatly rewarded in the task of making the state an enviable place for tourism.

Responding on behalf of the management and staff, the Permament Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Tobias Toby pledged the cooperation of the entire work team to ensure that the commissioner succeeds in turning around the fortunes of tourism in the state.

Shortly after the meeting, the commissioner embarked on a familiarisation visit to the Port Harcourt Zoological Garden at Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt and the state museum at the state secretariat complex.

Nle Eji promised that the zoological garden and the museum will be upgraded to international standard.
