The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has reported that two UK companies and the Delta state government are planning a joint venture commercial agricultural project in Jakpa.  A site of about 10 000-hectares has been earmarked for rice and cassava farms.

A Memorandum of Understanding has recently been signed with the UK-based Transformation Ltd and Pishion Field Ltd, which have merged to become Transformation Pishion Field Nigeria Ltd.

The company is planning to bring Vietnamese experts to Jakpa in order to cultivate high-quality rice in the region. There is a possibility that crocodile and duck farming may also be developed in the area.

Work on the site is scheduled to begin in June.
