Kebbi signs deals for irrigation farming

The Kebbi State government, together with the federal government, has started a project called Green Agricultural Development which will focus on the cultivation of maize, rice, vegetables and fish production at the Wara Irrigation Scheme.

Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu Gwandu, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, said the contract for the project was awarded to a Chinese company called CGC for the cultivation of crops.

To further stimulate irrigation farming in Kebbi State another N1.2-million contract has been given to West Management and Environmental Solutions for the construction of 24 irrigation schemes. This comprises of 12 gravity schemes and 12 sprinklers across the state.
