Housing delivery – state government and private companies working together

The Sokoto State government has concluded plans to partner with the private sector for the building of 2 000 housing units in the state.

The administration has already paid more than N160 million (US$1.3 million) to landowners whose land has been bought for the projects.

According to the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Housing, Aliyu Shehu Achida the projects include the Police Housing Scheme, the resettlement of the Lambara flood victims, expansion of the Government Secondary School and the building of four housing schemes.

Private firms involved with the projects include:

  • Hab-nab which will build 500 housing units at Arkilla;
  • Larix Nig. Ltd. which will construct 500 units at Mana; and 
  • Miyetti Allah which will build 40 housing units in the Tambuwal, Gwadabawa and Ilella Local Government Areas each.
