Guinness Nigeria Plc has announced plans to modernise operations and sell its Ikeja, Lagos factory.

The Daily Independent reports that the company has started with an expansion and modernisation process to provide better services to its suppliers and employees.

Deputy Managing Director, Babatunde Savage has been quoted saying that the Board of Guinness Nigeria approved the disposal of the Ikeja facility and that the proceeds of the sale will be used for a new logistics building and office headquarters.

Guinness Nigeria has used the Ikeja facility since it first started operations in the country 46 years ago.

According to Savage the demarcation of the road in front of the factory has made it difficult for trucks to move out of the facility.

He also affirmed the parent company of Guinness, Diageo Plc's commitment to the brewer and the Nigerian economy.
