Aircraft maintenance company, Lufthansa Technik is going to establish an aircraft maintenance facility in Abuja, Business Day reports.
Minister of aviation, Babatunde Omotoba said the hanger would improve the maintenance of aircraft in Nigeria and the whole West Africa region.
According to Omotoba, West Africa currently doesn't have any aircraft maintenance facilities that can carry out C and D-checks.
Nigerian aircraft currently go for maintenance and checks in America, Europe and at the Ethiopia Airlines hangar in Addis-Ababa.
The company will work together with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria to train and employ local aircraft engineers.
Lufthansa Technik is a sister company of Lufthansa German Airlines.
