Canada expresses interest in mining sector

Canada has shown an interest to invest in Nigeria's mining industry.

Caroline Christine, Canadian high commissioner to Nigeria expressed her country's interest in the mining sector while paying a visit to Chief Sarafadeen Isola, minister of mines and steel development.

The high commissioner said that she expects a mining partnership between the two countries to have a positive effect on Nigeria's GDP.

Isola noted that mining constitutes 27% of Canada's GDP, while it contributes only 0.5% to that of Nigeria.
