South African company expecting sweet returns from sugar factory

A South African company has announced plans to build a sugar factory in Gombe State situated in north-east Nigeria, This Day newspaper reports.

Williams Bawise, group managing director of Wise Design International Limited yesterday said in Abuja that his company will grow 40,000 hectares of sugar cane to supply the proposed sugar factory.

According to Bawise, Wise Design was encouraged by Gombe State's political stability in its decision on where to establish the multi-million dollar project.

Bawise added that the investment will increase the living standards of the people of Gombe State.

Wise Design will soon meet with the Gombe State governor, Alhaji Danjuma Goje to finalise the necessary paperwork for work on the project to commence.
