Akin Banuso, a Nigerian technology professional, will be in charge of the Dell Nigeria office. The computer giant will follow in the wake of other major US companies like Microsoft Nigeria, HP West Africa and IBM to establish a direct presence in the West African country.

Dell wants to displace the market leadership of its rivals and is going to explore the Business to Business and consumer market segments of the Nigerian market for personal computers, workstations, storage systems and enterprise servers. The company already has local partners like Computer Warehouse, Fidelity Systems Technology Solutions and City Business Computers Limited.

Recently there has been an emergence of Nigerian computer makers which include Zinox Technologies, Omatek Computers, Brian Technologies and Speedstar Computers.
