The aim of the Nigeria in the movies Road Show is to expose Nigerian producers, distributors, actors and screenwriters to European standards and practices. It is hoped networking sessions will lead to future filmmaking collaborations between the two countries. The gathering will also be a platform from where the success story of the world's third biggest film industry can be told.

One of the many events planned for the Road Show is a forum called Nollywood Comes to London. It is an initiative by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) and the Heart of Africa project. The forum is aimed at defining the heritage of Africa through the platform of movies.

The Heart of Africa project was introduced in 2004 to change negative perceptions of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the NFVCB's Assistant Director of Corporate Affairs, said that Nollywood is the perfect platform from where the Heart of Africa project can make a difference. He added that one of the ways to resolve Nigeria's image problem is through filmmaking.
