Tue, 02 Oct 2007 00:00

The Brazilian delegation will arrive in the country next week to look for suitable land for the project and to hold talks with the governors of Lagos, Imo, Ogun, Osun, Abia, Delta and Gombe States.

The proposed cities will have industries located in them as well as low-cost housing developments. Agrovilla, as the project is called, shall in essence urbanise rural communities in various parts of Nigeria. There are also plans for an independent power plant which will utilise ethanol. In order to produce ethanol the consortium is interested in the planting and processing of cassava and sugarcane.

Similar projects have worked very well in Brazil which prompted the president of the Nigerian community in Brazil to urge investors to look in the direction of the West African country.
