Contractors have received N3-billion from the state government for the construction of Ibom International Airport in Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Godswill Akpabio said the airport's 2 600 metre runway will be completed by April 2008.

The skilled and semi-skilled construction phases of project have thus far provided jobs to 500 youths in the region and once the airport is fully operational, even more employment opportunities will be created.
