Nigeria's recent banking reforms have attracted great interest from foreign investors and the share price of many banks shot through the roof.

Central Bank Governor Chukwuma Soludo said Nigerian banks should become main players in global and regional markets and that it would be better if they remained in local hands.

According to the governor, foreign banks should feel free to open their own branches in Nigeria as long as they meet local regulations.
